Though I have spent many years living and working around dogs, Rascal is our first experience with severe food allergies. Since he's only 6 1/2 months old, we are still learning about proper dietary habits and foods he can benefit the most from. For example, it wasn't that long ago that I learned how important certain superfoods can be for him. Superfoods, for anyone that isn't familiar, are a special category of foods found in nature that are nutrient dense and full anti-oxidants and essential vitamins. Now, what surprised me the most was that avocados are considered an excellent superfood for both dogs and cats. Which is exactly why AvoDerm® created the AvoDerm Revolving Menu.

I will admit, I was hesitant at first because I thought avocados were bad for dogs but learned very quickly that I was wrong. According to Dr. Art Craigmill, Professor and Extension Specialist in Environmental Toxicology at UC Davis, the problem of toxicity is in the leaves and the pit of the Guatemalan avocado; whereas the meat of the fruit and oils have not been shown to be toxic. And since AvoDerm pet products do not utilize any Guatemalan variety avocados, nor does AvoDerm use any leaves or pits of any variety of avocados, AvoDerm Revolving Menu provides your pet with the optimal vitamins and nutrients without the threat of hurting them!

So now that we know avocados are safe, let's take a look at a just few of the benefits they offer:
  • Nutrient rich superfood with high quality proteins
  • Helps absorb more of the nutrients they need
  • Rich in heart healthy fats and omega 3&6 fatty acids
  • packed with antioxidants and nearly 20 vitamins, minerals and phytonutrients, including
  • vitamins A, C, E & B6 for overall health
  • Nutrients provide a healthier, shinier, smoother skin and coat

With so many benefits, it's pretty clear why avocados are considered a superfood. In addition to taking advantage of the power of avocados, AvoDerm is a premium L.I.D. (Limited Ingredient Diet) food that is grain free and gluten-free with no white potatoes or fillers. AvoDerm offers varying proteins so your pet doesn't develop allergies and is specially formulated to prevent an upset stomach or digestive issues with the switch between proteins. We are very excited to see the results of AvoDerm on Rascal. He will certainly appreciate having such a wonderful selection to choose from!
